I cannot make this up. I wanted to volunteer for an organization and they want 3 references, a background check, a cover letter, 2 writing samples (it is NOT a writing/editing/social media position) and the cherry on top: a 5 minute video of yourself telling why you want to volunteer there and what you know about the org and bla bla bla. Have people gone INSANE?? Is anyone honestly willing to do any of this in order to just be considered to volunteer their free time and labor?
