Hello, this is in Québec, Canada btw
This story is from last year but discovered this sub after, and was wondering if I still have options or how I should approach this.
I work in a primary/high school in a very remote area (think less than 2000 ppl)
where I would do extra curricular activites after school, and at times sub for a teacher if they were sick/absent.
However, last year, a teacher did not come back right away after christmas holidays and I was asked to sub in for that teacher for like a week or two. I had a sheet with what the teacher asked me to do and it said to do some work in the textbook with them and that was about it.
Well the teacher ended up coming back four months later. During which, I attempted to give classes to the best of my abilities (5 classes every day). I read the textbook and tried giving classes although I’m not the teacher and not close to being one either.
Now this happened and then once the teacher came back and I just went back to my normal tasks (mind you I still did my normal tasks plus teaching before that). I wasn’t paid more for that. I also don’t have a contract with the school and work for an hourly wage of 15$/hour.
I don’t even know if this was legal and/or if I should ask for something more but I feel like I was slightly talen advantage of and I wanted to know if there was something I could do now (I still work there with a new and better salary).
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, and sorry if the formating is weird, but any input is appreciated!
Thank you!
