My friend got an offer from a new company for more money and full time status with benefits. They went back to their current part time job and asked if they could match it. The original company couldn’t match it but they could offer full time with benefits and a raise which came just under the offer from the new company.
It’s now been about 2 months since they accepted the offer to stay with their original company. They were told yesterday that the company cannot offer full time anymore because they can only hire people who reside in the state they are in (my friend works remotely).
Is there anything my friend can do legally at this point? They turned down another job offer because of this promise. My friend isn’t the type to make a fuss so I’m worried they are getting walked all over.
