Hi, I’m working at a tech company, and recently a few of my co-workers, including my former manager, have left the company due to our difficult director/leadership. Note: I am fairly young in my career, and have been here for 1.5 years. No one senses or thinks I’m leaving despite our teams turnover, I’ve done a good job at being present and performing well. I personally haven’t been too affected by the bad leadership and am on the director’s good side for some reason lol. My former manager who I loved working with, and a few coworkers have joined a different company, they’ve encouraged me to join & let’s just say I’ve been poached and I actually am excited about this new role at a new company. I’ve been offered a raise and retention bonus at my current company, but this new company has competitive benefits, coworkers & a culture that I miss, and was willing to match my salary expectations. I’m planning on resigning tomorrow, but don’t know how to handle the conversation with the director. She’s the type to put you in a corner, and I really don’t know how to politely say I’ve been poached and this place is great, but there’s better stuff out there. I also don’t want to burn bridges…any suggestions on tackling her questioning (she’s done it before with others, and everyone is kinda leaving for this company)? I honestly don’t even want to tell her I’m going to that company. Any thoughts?
