I've done it for 10 years now. And it never gets better, just different work with different bad people and corruption.
I get paid WELL, and it's still not fair compensation. The worst of it is the dead-beat old workers who are worse than a broken-record of complaining and bad life choices.
I've never had a weekend to myself in all this time. People are constantly not into work for any numbers of reasons, with too many being BS and preventable. And if they WORKED WHEN THEY WERE AT WORK then we'd be caught up and relaxed.
But of course management advertises minimum wage and we get minimum work employees. And now we're understaffed and agitated. It's enough.
I'm done. I'm done with the overwork and the yelling and the complaining about the basic duties of the job like cleaning and organizing and helping others. Too many people are beyond selfish and dependent on others.
Goodbye to the cooking world. Onto better things with a work-life balance that benefits me and my needs personally and just as a basic human.
