I love this subreddit. I visit pretty often and stand in utmost solidarity with all of you.
I just started a new job after 6 months of not working because my last job left me with some of the worst trauma I’ve ever had to endure in my life. I tried to sue them and I ultimately lost despite my overwhelming obvious evidence (camera footage and previous attempts to report manager.) It literally destroyed me and ruined my entire life. I had only worked here two months after returning from disability for almost 7 months from being overworked and mentally dead from the job BEFORE being assaulted. As you can see, working has literally taken so much from me. I have not been able to feel safe at any jobs.
I started a new job yesterday and it felt so weird because I walked in so detached from the idea of working, as if I was learning to walk again. I felt almost like I was volunteering or helping a homie out, not like I was actually working. I can’t really wrap my brain around it. It all feels unreal, fake, and honestly a weird fever dream. I wanted to write this because I just wanted to get support and tips to manage this but also I am aware that these environments just play into capitalism… and yeah.
