RUDE HR Manager

Hey bros, So I was talking to a recruiter for a company that my friend who was also my ex-manager was working at and highly recommended. She said the people were really polite, and she thought I would be a great fit for the role, so I decided to send off a cover letter to them for the role, and heard a reply from them the day after asking me if I wish to partake in an interview. Story goes like this. Juicy part is point 4. The recruiter asks me some basic questions about the role, my past experience, and if I would like to give some time-slots on when I may be able to interview which I did, but then there was also a question about my monthly salary expectations, which I gave to her after-tax. Hey bros,

So I was talking to a recruiter for a company that my friend who was also my ex-manager was working at and highly recommended. She said the people were really polite, and she thought I would be a great fit for the role, so I decided to send off a cover letter to them for the role, and heard a reply from them the day after asking me if I wish to partake in an interview.

Story goes like this. Juicy part is point 4.

  1. The recruiter asks me some basic questions about the role, my past experience, and if I would like to give some time-slots on when I may be able to interview which I did, but then there was also a question about my monthly salary expectations, which I gave to her after-tax. She asked me to connect with her on Linkedin which I did, and she started to talk informally to me on Linkedin asking me what my current salary is, and what my salary expectations are. I didn't tell her what my current salary was because that made me feel uncomfortable, but I gave her what my expected salary expectations.
  2. She sends me an email reminder asking me if I will answer the questions she sent me, which I did, and I could see from her reply on the email thread that she sent the reply to the questions I answered…. My thoughts initially were is this woman incompetent? I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe she was having a busy/bad day and she was overwhelmed, so I re-sent the email back to her with all the questions answered, and my time-slots for the interview.
  3. She then asks me for my expected salary in USD, when I already provided it to her in the email in euros and on the Linkedin messenger chat. I was just thinking can't you fucking convert it yourself or are you stupid? So again, I sent it to her on Linkedin messenger in USD. Now my patience is wearing thin and I am getting unsure, and a bad feeling that this bitch is trying to low-ball me on the salary, and note this is BEFORE the interview even happened, and no option of sending me time-slots even though she asked for an interview…
  4. After she sees my message, She literally tells me ''Uhm no (my name), actually you are not in our budget. You are asking triple for our budget. ''

When I saw her reply, I literally was like WTF who says ''Uhm no'' to a future candidate???I NEVER had an HR professional be so RUDE to me, and not even offer to interview me before even talking about salary. So I kept calm, and polite and explained to her why I said those rates based on the research within my own country, and then I asked her what the budget is for this role. At this point I am like, do I really want to deal with this bitch and go through this entire process? I asked her what the budget for the role is because they can't be offering less since my friend was getting quite a bit for her own role which was similar. I actually just wanted to hear the offer, say yes I will interview, waste their time and then say no I don't want the job for my own little fun.

  1. Then after a couple hours, I decided this is not fucking worth it and I do not want to work for a toxic individual like this. The way she typed, her manner etc was just really rude, so I messaged back and told her the following:

''To be honest with you based on our latest exchanges I am not interested in the position anymore. The only reason why I applied for the job was that my friend works for you and said you were a brilliant company but based on the on-boarding experience with you, it has been less than optimal.

I have notified her of the experience and will keep looking elsewhere.

Thank you for your time.''

  1. I then told my friend, who messaged the HR manager and she told him wtf is this correspondence? She said the exchange was shocking, and the on-boarding experience was just shocking and completely different to hers, and he told her that I was asking for more then they budgeted, and my friend told him no she's asking for this amount. He then went offline, most likely to have a meeting with this stupid bitch to ask her what happened.

Basically, the stupid HR recruiter fucked up and is an idiot and cannot do basic foreign exchange or mathematics, and has shit communication skills. I wrote on glassdoor my experience, and I will never apply again. I was never treated by an HR professional like this in my life. Shocking but I feel like I dodged a bullet.
