Saw a post about how the hardest working people get screwed at work and it made me think of my mother’s government contract job

My mom has a government contract job that's essentially helping veterans get all the medical benefits from their service. First of all, notice I said contract job, so in other words, the government found a way to make this company that works for the government that should be getting the benefits of a government job not be entitled to those benefits. As it is, when my mom started she made less than my sister made at Target. Now I thinks she only makes a few cents more. And you guessed it: she also doesn't have health insurance. Aside from that, they have a ridiculous policy. They have a call quota they're supposed to reach (calling on behalf of veterans to schedule appointments, request the documents from those appointments, request corrections on any mistakes in those documents, etc.) and if you regularly meet your quota, they increase it. For no further pay.

You get to do much more work for absolutely no additional payment. Who tf thought this was a good policy?? You're essentially being punished for reaching your quota!

My mom's friend who started at the same time as her's quota is 80 calls a day, my mom's is at 120, so that should give you a good idea about how much effort my mom puts in. Another thing that ticks me off about this company though is when my mom applied for a promotion (this is the position she really wanted when she applied to this company, but at the time they weren't doing outside hires for that position) she didn't get it. Now, they've been doing mostly outside hires for that position for over two years aside from the one time when she applied and they denied her.

What a slap in the face.
