We need to pay our servers/cooks/service job employees a livable wage!
Woke up with my kid and turned on the news. The first story was about how us British Columbians have been one of the worst tippers on average across Canada. The analyst went on to explain that if we don't tip more, it'll be hard for restaurants to hire new workers, the costs of food will go up (like it hasn't already!) and that it's in our best interest to tip more.
I still tip when I go out to eat, but fuck, I'm tired of the government blaming us for the great resignation. Maybe shitty jobs paying shitty wages is the culprit? We really need to stop thinking of these jobs as “entry” level and pay enough for workers not to count every nickle they get to decide if they can afford a bag of their favourite chips.
