This happened 5 months ago when I joined a big company as a seasonal employee , pay was about $2 more than I was being offered everywhere else in my area.
My position was to oversee waste and provide a another set of eyes for production. When I joined I was told that I would have to learn the position quick and teach two others in about two weeks. My boss said depending how you do and with your degree I have a position opening up soon and you'd be a great candidate once you've gained work experienced directly here.
So as the seasonal work continues, about half way through I do my first interview with said company for the position opening up. I felt pretty good about it despite being a fresh graduate with low work experience in my field . The boss told me to treat this job as internship, literal words from him. About three weeks later my boss tells me they've decided to go with another candidate due to my experience. Near the end of the season my boss asks me to reapply to the position, which I thought was weird b cause they already had a candidate. My boss let me know, now that the season is over your experience here will help a lot. My guess was that the person offered the job didn't ultimately accept the offer. I was a bit excited.. to be honest.. I was coming near the end of the season and I still hadn't managed to secure another job and at least maybe I could work here and get officially hired and make more money and remove this constant financial pressure. Well my boss rejected me again and said they had gone with another candidate due to my experience ….. I was really hurt this time . He knew he from the start I did not have much experience in my field as a recent graduate but anyways I kept it professional and thanked him for letting me know and asked if I could use him as a reference. Boss said it was okay and he hoped to see me next season.
It's a about three weeks after season and I'm still searching, putting up about as many indeed applications online a day as possible, and doing tons of interviews. I get a called from the HR of the seasonal company asking if I would like to come back and work for the same pay doing some office work they need help on. I said sure, and I underwent the onboarding process. With the same pay I could continue to pay my bills and it would buy me a month of time (the amount of time offered). On my first day back, I arrived early and awaited my trainer at the HR office. An hour passed and they had not picked me up so I called the HR lady that had set this up. Turns out the trainer was off for a few days and there was no point in me being there. They sent me home and paid me for four hours. They told me to return and said date and they would continue. No biggie, but later that night they called and said they didn't need me after all. According to them they had some backlog but they didn't know on boarding would take a week again …. Nothing in my control.
At this point im getting desperate and I decided to check out a staffing agency… 10 years prior I had joined a staffing agency and it was some of the worst experience I had ever had… But times have changed and who knows. Thid certain agency found a place to work at 4 mins from my house for a lot lower pay than my last place but it was relatively close and title position was quality control so I figured it might be okay for my resume and the pay would at least pay the bills. I got on boarded fast and started right away. It was mainly computer work and my co workers and my primary boss was very happy with my work. My boss said I worked fast, didn't complain and did my job very efficiently. My agency also let me know they are definitely interested in hiring me and they also heard great things. I was starting to think maybe the pay cut is not too bad since I work close to home. Anyways fast forward 2 weeks and the new workplace had a proposition for me. They would like to hire me but not as a QA but as a regular production worker that can help QA team when needed…..at first I thought oh okay you want me to learn from the bottom up, I get it. I asked how long it would take to get moved up to QA. They said they had no answer at this moment because they don't have the budget but if they did get the budget in a few months ; I would be a top candidate……..it's the same story again I thought …. I let my boss know I was not okay with the proposition and decided to leave …
About three weeks pass and I get a job call and do an interview for somewhere about 1.5 hours from where I live. They let me know position is remote with full benefits with a wage much higher than my first job ….. Now a few months into this job and I love my workplace … The trainers and managers are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I have caught up on some bills and halfway towards paying off my credit card (which really wasn't much luckily). There's a ton more benefits that are very unique so I can't say much but they truly care about employee well being.

Some information I left out; my wife has been really the one pushing me to strive for better and convinced me to leave the second job. She is also the one who recommended applying further from my area to see what's out there.
