Seeking advise

I've been at this job for about a year and I found a new one so I'm resigning. I wanted to know if I had to stay longer than the two weeks I put in. Is there any legal binding in the state of New York where My employer could keep me longer than the two weeks notice I've given them. Even if it says I have to stay a month after resigning in an employee handbook, that isn't legally binding, correct ?
