I am middle management (director) so still have to weather the shower of shits above me. Recently we've had a lot of big fish leaving to join other companies, meaning long term projects and strategies no longer have sponsors. And even those that are still around seem to checked-out, so they're making pretty bizarre decisions which I need to help implement and cascade to my teams. This is usually most obvious when you get the email to say xyz is leaving.. then it all makes sense.
Nobody seems to give a shit anymore, and that is obviously filtering down through the organisation. I'm a Pharmacy graduate working in a med-size pharma company, and my only real “North Star” are the patients with rare disease we develop medicines for. Other than that, I too am starting to care less and am wondering whether big corporations with their hierarchies and bloat are finally over?
