Serious question regarding this movement and how to make unions appealing to all.

Ok all, I have been a lurker for a while, and this is my first antiwork post. I love the mentality that we should “work to live, not live to work,” and I have always been pro union and believing that we should fight for better wages. My wife, on the other hand, is anti-union as she worked in finance for a manufacturing company that had one plant with and one without union workers, and she was telling me she hates the union workers because they are lazy and impossible to fire. So my question is this.

What is the recommended solution to the problem of not being able to fire union workers even when their performance is unsatisfactory to company goals and how can we promote unions in a way that appeals to people who have seen these negative side of unions?

Thank you.

EDIT 1: I should also point out that both the non-union and union plants have excellent pay and some of the best benefits in our area. The company is not an American company and I think that is a big factor as to why the overall treatment of their employees is positive. I have actually met the CEO and compared to American CEOs he is very caring and understanding. Also his salary is not much higher than the company average.
