A little background. I used to work for a company during covid on the graveyard shift. When the shutdowns happened I was told out of the blue on a Friday that they are laying everyone off, they will call us. I worked graveyard because I have another job working morning. When they were ready to re-open they called me on a Thursday saying I had to work mornings or resign immediately. So I quit.
Since then I picked up another night job to fill the time slot, better pay, better benefits, but more physically demanding. I got burned out so I applied back to the old job since and got hired back on. It was a Monday – Friday job. But I negotiated Monday – Thursday since my fiancé works Friday, Saturday, Sundays and we have kids.
Well, out of the blue, it became a supervisor position without me knowing until an email went out to my building. What ever, a fluff title.
I mainly took the job because I was good friends with the night crew. The upper management expected me to come in with an iron fist and turn things around on day 1. Which I didn’t, because everyone needed to be retrained and their bad habits changed.
So at some point during the 2nd week back, management got mad because I hadn’t cracked the whip and was taking a soft and slow approach. There was years of bad habits that needed to be turned around. So they came in, first time in years and started pinpointing issues and pointing fingers in my day off.
Needless to say, the entire crew put their 2 weeks in.
So I got a message today, saying they need me to work Saturdays. After I already agreed to work some Fridays and a few hours on Sunday’s in the afternoons just to keep up with the building maintenance. And also they are planning on making my position full time now. (I already work full time at my main job)
What the fuck is up with shitty bosses? The job is not much over minimum wage and they treat us like slaves. Funny thing is 5 miles away, the company opened another location and is paying 2$ more for what I am doing without the supervisor title.
Anywho, fuck this place. I’m emailing my 2 weeks tonight and washing my hands of this dump. I hadn’t fully left my other night job because I was feeling the waters on seeing how this company was going to treat its employees in the post covid world. Red flags everywhere when I found out they are running at 40% staffing because everyone quit over the past 6 months and are struggling.
