Should I be expected to work more after a sick leave?

I took two days off this week and I wonder how to respond if my employer demands me to make up for these sick days. I caught a pretty bad laryngitis last Wednesday. As I am closer to going back to work I wonder whether will I be expected to “compensate” for my sick leave (which was unpaid as I work on a student contract)? I am alread quite stressed as I missed nearly all of my final exams at college because I was ill and these days “away” from work don't really compare to those when I am healthy.

Should I stick my guns out if things get complicated when I return?
