I've been doing a lot of thinking about how to best handle wages and hires. I know it won't go anywhere, but I find these exercises useful for my own fulfillment.
I've been asking myself if teens should have different pay rates to make up for the less experienced labour they get. It belittles those with many years in the labour force to pay them the same but it abuses the hiring process and the kids to pay them less.
I've fallen on the answer that the government should be giving all school enrolled kids a form of UBI. While also raising the minimum working age to 18+ while in school.
Special cases of course like living alone or something would be an exception.
This would include a drastic raise to minimum wage as giving kids “summer spending money” wouldn't be a factor anymore.
Thoughts on this?
