I’m a server at this restaurant and it’s the first workplace I’ve ever encountered that has asked me to fill out employment tax forms at home on my own time. Also, they sent me a link to mandatory WHIMIS training to complete at home off the clock as well. I don’t even know why I’m asking cause this obviously isn’t right. Right? I’m in Canada if that makes any difference. I also just wanna express that it’s really frustrating that they’re doing this. I know it’s a small thing and maybe only an hour of work but it feels like theft. And companies already make so much it’s like really? You’re not gonna pay me the $11 or whatever? It’s just insulting and it also makes me feel a bit powerless because what am I going to do? If I speak up about it within my 3 month probationary period they’ll probably just fire me. So obviously I have to just let it go, but tbh I feel like this is just a rough start and resentment is kinda already there. What are your thoughts? Am I being silly? Should I be paid for this or nah?
