At this new place I work at, an employee is allowed 4hours of sick time off a month. While one does gain PTO, there's a very outdated way of scheduling it. It cannot overlap with anyone else, emergencies or not. If it does overlap it gets rejected, and if you miss 16 hrs of work they write you up as they expect you to make up anymore time past the 4hrs the rest of the week. Then they preach that they care about work life balance, as well as mental health when you're not allowed to be a minute late with anything. We're not machines no matter they try to train the new people.
