I recently got out of the trades. Every shop I worked at was run by MBA's whose goal was to minimize payroll expense at all costs, all salesmen were professional salesmen with zero field experience who miss-sold jobs left and right, and I had to make up the difference out of my own ass with no opportunity for extra compensation.
I know corporate greed is real, but goddamn, mom and pop shops openly looking to make themselves millionaires while pushing ALL of the work burden onto you personally is something I will never ever do again.
