So I work for a Home Warranty Company. I had a customer call in complaining about the time it was taking to repair his dishwasher. He then tried the “what if you were in my shoes” argument. I pointed out to him that I can't afford a dishwasher, and that I waited 6 months for my landlord to repair my oven. Naturally he asked for my supervisor. Who in turn listened to a recording of the call. I was told to show more empathy.
