I just started working 2 months for a contracting company, straight out of college. I’m not not gonna mention any names, so this contracting company works for a BIG TECH company. So for the first months, everything is super slow, I do all my training, do everything my trainer says.
Then for the past few weeks, they send me and all the new people who were completely new, say 1 – 2 months green to a different department of said big tech company, and they have us doing completely different work that is laborious as hell, completely different from what our job description.
My co workers and I were super confused on why we were sent to this department, something along the lines of helping out a different contracting company and to show them how its done. So were very confused and worried about our job security.
Now today I was sent to todays meeting, and now they are telling us things have changed. And of little notice they are telling us that our day shifts no longer exists, and that night shifts are available.
So you better pick this 12 hour compressed night shift or we’re laying you off. And this was being relayed to 50 people within my team. Not only that my manager keeps saying, “oh this is a wonderful opportunity to get your foot in the door with said big tech company.” So wtf is going on? Are me and my co workers being exploited? The fuck is this bullshit.
EDIT: I’m so fucking stressed out right now, job security seems super flimsy and it seems like management is doing what they want with us.
