In general, there is no level of education, intelligence, morality, or capability required of people starting small businesses. Business lenders want to see some potential for success, but lenders don’t really get far into the details. The most greedy, mean, irrational, unqualified, low-people-skilled people can start businesses or manage them and their employees. There is generally no accreditation, or any kind of proof of honesty or integrity in dealing with others, required. Capitalism really is like the jungle.
I think this is a central reason why us workers feel like every job is a crapshoot, one we often lose.
