I kinda feel bad for posting this, knowing others are in a way worse position so apologies for venting.
I work for a big company (in the Fortune 500) and the stock has gone up year after year. The brass even praised the gains “we've” made recently.
So during the meeting with my boss, it's announced that we're getting a 3% raise. In a respectful way, I said “inflation is at 7% over the past year, so effectively we're getting a 4% pay cut” and my boss agreed and mentioned he's in the same boat. Which I believe, there's lots of middle mgrs here.
Some of my coworkers didn't get raises at all. Hence why I feel bad about bitching about this.
Feels like I'm just yelling into the void. The company is making bank and we're being given scraps at best. Like, I could understand if the company took a loss etc. but it didn't.
I low key feel like I'm becoming a Karen for complaining. Just feels like a slap in the face.
I've worked a lot harder for a lot less. Golden handcuffs are real.
Thanks for letting me vent.
