Social Worker Overworked

I have to say firstly, I do love my position as a foster care specialist. However, I am over qualified and over worked. I finally got to take some PTO after months of working well over the 80 hours per pay period at my salary rate, which is lower than state average. My team is made up of 3 case workers and 0 leadershipssince May. Our supervisors and program manager left our location because the company is petty. As I said, I’ve been over worked. So even on PTO days for others, it seems like we are expected to work. So I pop in to a meeting to get an update and the program director, located hours away at a different site, told me to get off the call cause I had PTO. She said, “better yet, I’m going to kick you off the meeting.” The whole reason I wanted…

So I pop in to a meeting to get an update and the program director, located hours away at a different site, told me to get off the call cause I had PTO. The whole reason I wanted to be at this meeting was to talk about the amount of hours we are expected to work to complete our job…which never ends. Along with that, I had a hearing a had to go to that day, even though I had approved PTO before this hearing was scheduled. So about an hour later, I go into the hearing room and try to ignore my emails. I see one from a program manager from a different site telling me, my PTO can no longer be approved because I have something pending in the system. (I ain’t worried because I’ve already fulfilled the task when it come to stats, along with consistently showing multiple active efforts in the work I do.)
I didn’t respond. I honestly was so angry and hurt an email was sent to a remote leadership team that seems to have no clue how hard I’m working.

My thing is, can they take away PTO the day of after the work day has started? On top of that, I was already out of town and didn’t have anything needed to fulfill this task.
I took my 5 days of PTO. I’m dealing with it tomorrow but I’m nervous. Not because I didn’t do my part, but because I hate being made out like I don’t do my job. Just a few days prior she praised me a consistent and high stats.
I don’t know what I’ll be walking into or if it will even be a big deal. It’s unnecessary to have this added stress to an already stressful job.
