I work with some girls who I used to be friends with. I am a white immigrant in Australia, who came here as a child. Recently I have been promoted to be in charge of these girls and they have started telling me I need to say things or do things the “right way” because I “live here now”, even though these things don’t impact them at all. Today they mocked me and laughed behind my back about me not knowing some Australian tv anchor and even encouraged a new hire I was training to do the same. I don’t know what to do. I’ve told them it bothers me and upsets me but they get angry and tell me to “let things go” and “accept that people don’t agree”.
