If you have been hired for a job and it turns out to be immensely dysfunctional, don’t take it personally. We have big economic problems in America with the tech divide, reasonable expectations and decent pay. Here are some tips on how to gracefully back out:
1) you could email your employer and state that the job is different from what you expected. You won’t be returning to work. Thank you for your time and attention.
2) you could state you would like to pursue other opportunities more aligned with your interests
3) you could say that the job isn’t the role you are seeking at this time. You are interested in different challenges and opportunities. You would like to change your focus to jobs more aligned with your long term career goals.
4) you could remind the employer that they can hire freelancers, contractors or substitutes to fill in for you if you intend to leave abruptly
These are just examples of how to quickly exit off the highway to hell.
