I love sculpting, I can't see myself doing anything else, but I'm getting a real feeling that companies in general either have nothing but disdain for creative types, or they have no concept of how hard it is to create something, follow concept art, and actually have the discipline to finish a job and take criticism.
Most of the jobs I've been looking at only pay around $30K-$36k/year. That is quite literally poverty wages in the Seattle area. There isn't one single apartment I can find for that income level the I would qualify for.
But, after looking at what they pay other staff (like HR, management etc) I could buy a house with that pay.
I could literally go down to the local mall, pick a person at random, and they could do their job just as good (if not better). But good artists that can follow instructions, do quality work, and keep on schedule, are not easy to find.
I don't get it.
