Sonic trys its hardest to make employees pay for counterfeit bills accepted.

To preface this I wanted to state they there have been a few times after dropping my cash into out cash machine it will spit out bills and I will just put a different bill into the machine and the difference after that is the total of tips I’ve received that day. Over the course of working here for almost a year there have been times where I take my remaining tip to the bank to deposit they will find counterfeit bills which I just accept and take the hit because usually they aren’t bigger than $20. As of recently Sonic has been bough by another restaurant company and as a result the last day with the last company we didn’t put cash into the machine but rather have it to our manager. When the company came to pick it up they were frustrated that they found a $20 counterfeit…

As of recently Sonic has been bough by another restaurant company and as a result the last day with the last company we didn’t put cash into the machine but rather have it to our manager. When the company came to pick it up they were frustrated that they found a $20 counterfeit bill and wanted to investigate to figure out the carhop that received it in order to take it out of their paycheck. Even though I didn’t work that day I debated with the woman on behalf of my coworkers because it doesn’t seem right that the bad acting of customers should be paid by the employees, we hardly have the time to check bills at the pace they have us going. She want able to figure out which carhop because she had shuffled the money around to count it.

But that conversation and they way she spoke make me realize that the machine is only there so that the employees have to cover Sonics cost of doing business for counterfeit cash and it frustrates me. It also adds to my frustration that the sonic I work at doesn’t accept tips via the app or stall.

Regardless I hope the new ownership is better for us and less stingy.
