I was a Starbucks manager for a year and some change, I left a few months ago due to the stress and overall negligence towards employees I was feeling.
Well, I recently found out that an old manager of mine (from another job, not Sbux) was let go for extreme sexual-harassment. I am talking like texting employees advances, photographing them while they were bending over, making comments at work about their bodies and even touching some of them. This was really disappointing to hear but not surprising.
What was surprising to hear was when I found out that he was hired at Starbucks for manager position. I know that Starbucks does reference checks, I know that they do employment verification, and I would never imagine that they would hire someone that was let go for this. To top off the insult, he is getting paid 20 grand more than any (female) manager in our district made.
I was genuinely worried about the minors and women working for Starbucks so I contacted my old boss and let him know that while I know this is none of my business I just wanted to inform him of the situation. He never responded to me, and the man was hired and started training.
I don’t know why I’m so disappointed in them, but I just feel like this was the final nail in the coffin for me showing that they do not care about their employees.
Didn’t really know where to share this to, but I’m feeling pretty letdown and upset about it so I figured I would share here.
