Since February I've been working a remote recruiting position- sourcing potential candidates for the recruiters to contact. Was an easy job that allowed me to not waste money on a commute. Pay wasn't anything to write home about, especially since I'm in California; only $17/hr but better than most jobs around here.
In the middle of my shift today, I got a call from HR stated I'm being laid off because the company doesn't have enough paying clients to cover the current number of employees. Come to find out from my manager that the sales team responsible for bringing in clients are pretty incompetent. How is that my problem? My position is literally the foundation to keeping clients and proof that the company has value. Nobody else from my team was let go, just me, despite having some of the best performance numbers.
On the bright side she said I'd be able to return in 30-60 days if they're able to bring in my clients. That sounds acceptable right? HA, go fuck yourself. The last 3 months we've been getting emails about how well the company was doing. Last month the owner threw a large party and flew in a bunch of people from out of state and put them up in nice hotels. Oh, not to mention a bunch of people are getting all-expenses-paid trips to Vegas and Cabo.
What a great way to start the weekend. Sitting here trying to figure out how I'm going to pay my bills and survive. Hope you guys have a great weekend!
