I think we are putting way too much hope on a general strike. Open a history book and find out what happened at the first..
People were slaughtered. Do you know what they've done to other countries. Do you know the extent of what we did to Vietnam? Do you know what we do to other countries? You think they won't do that to us??
I'm not saying that we should never have one. A general strike is probably the best tool at our disposal. But we (the United States) are not prepared for what actual comes with a general strike. We have no mutual aid. We have no collectivism, we have no community. The only thing we have is anger. And anger will not overcome capitalism.
If you want a general strike, you need to get off of Reddit, go into your communities and start solving problems for people. Create a community garden, a tenants union, start stealing baby products and give it to needy parents (you could buy it if you want, but like …why would you), feed the homeless, get to know the people within your communities. Start creating the foundations for people to actually get off of the system. You do not successfully have a general strike without solidarity within the working class and the US DOES NOT HAVE THAT.
Edit: not a US history book. It's not gonna tell you lol.
