A change in tone for some of the depressing and angry stuff here on Anti-Work. This is good work, work that we as humanity should be amazed at. We managed to get one light year into the universe within a human lifetime. Twenty years.
Science represents the best of humanity, and when it really, genuinely works, it's a noble thing. Even if we end up destroying ourselves, we may yet save ourselves, but even if we don't, we know for an absolute certainty that there is life on other planets, and there's potential for other sentient and self-aware life on other worlds. 100% confirmed, we KNOW we're not alone in the universe.
This is the kind of work we should be doing, enjoying, and talking about as not just worthwhile and full-filling, but fucking amazing.
