I can’t share too many details but I’m actually doing it. I have enough evidence and proof on my side and my former co workers are willing to testify if it goes beyond a settlement but I’m sick of people in Georgia using a “fire for any reason state” excuse. You’re breaking federal law, asshole. I have documented evidence of my disability, was guaranteed at interview this wouldn’t be an issue, and the new owner (purchased a majority share) decides nobody is allowed to sit, disabled or otherwise; if you don’t like it, we will fire you for making us seem like a fool for breaking ADA and denying the easiest reasonable accommodation request in history. I EVEN OFFERED TO BRING MY OWN DAMN CHAIR!!
Then they proceed to try and use “evidence” from 5 years ago when I worked for the same company to prove I wasn’t disabled. BEFORE I EVEN GOT DIAGNOSED WITH A LIFETIME DEFECT IVE HAD SINCE BIRTH.
Seriously fuck corporations and fuck wage based living. I’m trying to get on disabilities but I’m 24 and might not even have enough work credits because of my mother forcing me to do under the table work (including but not limited to working in an operating room during an active surgery as an unlicensed 16 y/o and doing framework on a house as an inexperienced 14 y/o) until I was 21 and finally able to move states away from an abusive home life. Literally every single day I get denied interviews because I only have a HS diploma…
The only job I’ve ever worked that was worth it was part time on a cannabis farm. It was hard work but rewarding both for personal reasons and for obvious financial ones. The systems been broken for a long time but holy shit the amount of horror stories I could tell from just my own small business owning mother.
