So I’m a teacher during the school year. And I’m in a state that pays teachers well. I make $65k per year. When I first started teaching I made a lot less so I used a summer camp job to supplement my income a little. Last summer I got hired by a new district and my salary went from $55k to $65k. I also saved about $2k in gas this year due to a much shorter commute. Long story short I didn’t need the summer job anymore, but used my situation as leverage to get what I wanted. To return this summer I asked for 1. A promotion/raise 2. Fridays off 3. A shift from 8-4. She wrote back immediately saying my demands would be met.
Fast forward and camp is starting next week so our schedule came out. It turns out she booked me to work 9-6 for the summer. Which irritates me because 1. I don’t like getting home that late for various reasons. 2. She’s booking me for 36 hours instead of 32. That’s more I’m contracted to work during the school year and I need the summer to recharge my battery. 3. She straight up said she would do something for me and went back on it. So I assumed it would happen and so I turned down other jobs like summer school and tutoring and now those opportunities are gone.
Am I being overly sensitive about this or is this a legit gripe.
