I was just sitting here and thinking about how I hate my job and remembered something my supervisor said.
I work in production full time, 3 shift. In the department I am we assemble inverters and such for solar systems and whatever the fuck. I honestly don't give a fuck. Overall we stand during the entire shift in shitty shoes and some of the mats we stand on are good but most are shit. It's a very monotonous and mind numbing job.
During a shift people usually aim for 24 small inverters and maybe 20 ish big ones. Sometimes you end up doing more because you're trying to be busy. (Inquiries for the small inverters are always 40 and for the large ones 30.)
We recently had.. ,I'm not sure what that was but our superior had a talk with us giving us the numbers on what we worked as such. He then went on to say that there was a rumor that we only had to assemble 24 inverters which was untrue. He wants us to go for +150% (60+ small and 45+ big)
Everyone obviously looked at him and you could literally see how each face read “How the fuck?” The quickest people can just barely finish one big inquiry (usually missing one or two inverters) and maybe a small one and a few but not 150%+.
He wouldn't contemplate talking with the higher ups about a pay raise but we should work more? Yeah not happening. The fact that what he imagines us doing isn't possible wasn't even a thought.
