I just started as a store manager at a temporary job. When we leased the building nobody, including the landlord, had checked the building for safety reasons since 2014. We found there’s black mold in multiple spots in the back where we keep product and I spend most of my time. Nobody has done anything. HR contacted me yesterday and asked if I felt sick I told them I’ve had constant headaches and a sore throat since working here and she blamed it on Covid (it’s not). She calls me again today and asked if I wanted to quit? What the fuck? I said no? Aren’t you guys going to come in and clean this? And she said “if you feel uncomfortable you need to let us know if you want to quit”. So if I’m uncomfortable being slowly poisoned by black mold I should quit? This is so insane to me. I’ve never worked anywhere where they cared so little for the safety of their workers.
