So I am a team member at a warehouse for pet supplies. There are 3 major areas inventory control (IC), recieving (in-bound – IB), and shipping (outbound – OB) along with a few smaller areas that require promotions. In two of these areas there is a slew of sub areas, especially in OB where I'm primarily assigned. As a “Fullfilment Specialist” (official title) they can and will cross-train us on a rotation for all the various sub areas. BUT no matter how much extra training you get you get and how many areas you are trained at you will NOT be given an increase in pay unless you are forklift certified and then it's less than a dollar.
Oh! But that's not all the week is split in 2 shifts; 3 days at 12 hours (11.5 after lunch) and 4 days at 10 hours (9.5 after lunch) and there is a pay difference of $1 if you work the 4 day shift. Yep, you read that right the shift with the most hours, shorter shift, and same work load gets a $1 more per hour AND get all the voluntary overtime they want. Can we guess which shift I'm on?
But hey, at least they gave us pizza for hitting record numbers one night.
sidenote: the pay is decent enough and I'm home more which is great since my husband works a different warehouse in the area for $22 an hour. but the schedule is a 3 week rotation with different working and off days with varying end times based on goal.
