I've thought for years about how less and less the nature of politics includes the need for geographical connection or association. People are becoming more insular and yet their reach is wider socially. We're all finding pockets of people, like this one, too connect with and voice our opinion. The idea of a country and its inherit nationality is diminishing and losing relevance – we connect with or engage in interests with people of all walks of life on a daily basis.
Politics will move towards having more importance with your online community than in where you physically reside, because our physical connections are getting less important.
Preamble over, I am feeling energized on this movement for so many reasons and I would like to see something happen.
1] I tendered my resignation today, giving several months notice due to my line of work, but still just as jazzed. The idea I would leave without the plan of working full time for a few years was mind boggling to the administrative audience, and it fueled my spirit. I can do it, and it's just out of the norm.
2]I saw change happen from our platform to affect stock markets in 2021. That was a first of its kind, and it won't be the only stock run indirectly or directly boomed via social media.
3] There is more flexibility on working styles and an awareness of balance and mental well-being already occurring due to covid; a push from a large body could tip scales.
4] A user posted a 102 year old comic showing the parody of literally the situation we are compared to now. The rich/bourgeois/lords/rajas/pharoahs earn perpetual wealth and treat lower castes in any way possible. We're going into war and everyone is unhappy but also aware everyone else is also unhappy. We need to make a change now without causing a crippling dirty 30s repeat.
5] I had a funny interaction on this sub with someone bashing someone for a possibly insensitive, yet empathetic post about their salary. It made me realize, I've been following this sub for a long time, but I make a decent wage and i do contribute to savings plans, I even try to do gigs on side hustle. I'm also a crossover of r/leanfire and I bet a lot of other users are too. One can make a decent wage and still want to affect change. I realized I need to help that because I think what we all want is to see a difference, not just get riled up and send upvotes.
Back to the geography qualm, or lack thereof, let's push for better workers rights in all sectors, in all geographic areas. Your two person walk out of a domino's may have little affect, but a lot of us work at schools districts, restaurants, and offices with branches globally.
I can't open a poll, but if you're comfortable, share a comment with your workplace and let's upvote top commenters if you work there too. What kind of numbers do we have?
tldr; let's do something together
