Okay Ima try and get this in timeline order.
I’ve been at this job since March 1st of 2021. So I’ve been here for over a year. My pay started at $10/hr because I had no prior experience. After 9 months working there, I asked for a raise, and even that took another months worth to get it. So I didn’t get my first raise til after 10 months. My manager wasn’t in charge of giving raises, he had to go to his boss to get a raise for me approved. He told him that he thought I deserved a $2 raise. At the time I was like “damn. That’s a lot.” I didn’t get the $2 raise, instead I got $1.50. So I’m making $11.50/hr. I am still at this pay rate.
Now what’s so frustrating is many of the new hires started much higher than me. $12/hr, $13/hr, $15/hr!!! The dude who was started at $15/hr ended up quitting cause he didn’t get his promised “90 day raise.” I wasn’t told I’d get a 90 day raise, and I sure as hell didn’t get one.
Our management changed about 2 months ago. I ranted to him about all the pay troubles I’ve been going through. He was very understanding and even said that it looks sexist, which it does. Even though I’ve been here the second longest (much longer than everyone else) out of all 6 employee’s, I’m making the lowest. My manager got back to me and told me his boss changed the starting pay some months ago. I don’t know when exactly, but now the starting pay is $12/hr without experience, and $13/hr with experience. Never got told to me, and I’m making LESS than the starting pay!!!
Now, present day, I was told I will be getting a raise by the end of the month. I don’t know how much it will be, but I can guarantee you if it is only .50 raise, I’m not going to be happy. I don’t know what I’m going to do yet. But I should AT LEAST be at $13/hr by now, right?
I just wanted to vent, and I’ll update once something happens.
