You're a vendor.
You're selling labor. Your company is purchasing it.
That's all.
There's no loyalty except the money. When you're on the clock and getting paid, you're loyal. When you're not?
You're not.
An outside vendor doesn't think twice about a company when they're not getting paid.
If you're off, you're OFF. If you're on vacation, you're on vacation.
They pay for your product. Simple as that. Whether you're an architect or a manual laborer (ESPECIALLY if you're a manual laborer, my dudes) your time is your money.
Never ever let a company talk to you about loyalty or family or teams.
When the chips are down, you're expendable.
The car accident analogy is a good one: you can't quit because lOyAlTy. Bullshit. If you died in a car accident tomorrow, they'd fill your position by the end of the week, or the end of the day.
Don't let their talk keep you from your course. It's your survival, it's your life, it's your time. They purchase a good and service from you; they don't own you.
