Most of those who know me realize I am left leaning, but I don’t think they realize how radical I really am compared to current society norms. And as time passes and I grow older, I only get more radical in my ideals. The basic concept is pretty simple:
- Tax the rich and businesses like crazy
- Implement UBI
The “fat” of societies jobs will be trimmed. We don’t need a majority of professions in existence now. Whole industries can be eliminated.
Others, we are at a point in our technology that many can be automated.
The rest? They are going to have to convince us to work there. If I don’t need your job to satisfy any of my basic needs, then it’ll have to be something I am passionate about or it’ll have to contribute to my luxuries enough to justify my time.
I realize there are other questions that come from these ideals. Some I have my own answers for, some of those still aren’t palatable to most people and some I haven’t even thought of yet, I am sure. But it’s been nice this past year or so to see this community grow and find people who make me realize that I am not as radical as I have been led to believe.
I know we aren’t there yet as a society overall. This likely isn’t going to happen in my lifetime. But the more we normalize it, the more we counter the lies that we have been fed and permeate the very core of some people’s beliefs, the closer we get to people rejecting what has been common place, but really isn’t for the benefit for our species.
Anyways, apologies for the insomnia induced rant on a Saturday morning. Feel free to question my views and maybe more of my radical side will come out in the comments.
