At what point in this movement are people going to honestly start discussing and agreeing on a day or week where we all decide to sacrifice a little bit to show how large this movement is and how serious we are that systemic change is necessary? Are we all going to wait forever and let the golden opportunity we have now before people get used to things again and all devolve back into apathy and complacence?
The time for talking is nearing an end. I think the vast majority of us can probably agree that wages are stagnate, health care is too expensive, and politicians are bought and paid for by corporations (Looking at you Citizen's United). Let's pick and day, or preferably, a week, to put the elite on notice that we are sick and tired of the disrespect and lack of action. I propose Monday, May 2nd. This would be enough time for more people to see how bad things are getting when inflation really ramps up during the summer, and also allow people sitting on the fence to build the courage to stand up to this madness. We all walk off work and demand wages are raised immediately or we don't work. If we don't stand up to this insanity, there will be nothing left to fight for and there is no future for our generation (Oregon Trail here) or Gen Z.
Let's have a civil discussion about this and move forward before we get stuck in neutral and let this once in a life time chance to mobilize people against the outrageous level of inequality in this country and around the world slip away.
