the UK will soon be banning unionised striking for “essential public services”

when asked in a live debate, both Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss immediately said they would make striking in all public service sectors (transport, medical etc) illegal when elected as party leader. just last week, the government essentially wrote union busting tactics into law by allowing businesses to employ temporary agency workers in place of workers on strike. in their words “this was a criminal offence. now it’s an option for business”. Liz Truss also said she planned to scrap the planned corporation tax rises for next year. this is absolutely fucking infuriating. i’ve never felt so much hatred for my government than I do right now. it really does feel like we’re regressing as a country. one day they’re taking away our right to strike, the next they’re taking away legally entitled PTO just so businesses can run smoother.
