Hoo boy. Never thought I’d be posting on here as for the most part I love my job on the railway.
The drivers are striking on Saturday so naturally far fewer trains are running. Our internal comms told us that if our booked shifts weren’t running then we’d be reverted to spare/attend a teams training session or if we chose to we could use an Annual Leave (AL) day if there was availability.
So imagine my surprise when I’ve just gotten an email saying “as per the recent comms you’ve been placed on an AL day for Saturday” without my prior consent. They used my personal allowance of leave to give me the day of the strike off, a day which I was intending to use later on in the year.
The union is fucking furious that staff are being forced to take AL and are seeking legal advice.
This has honestly soured what I once found a very agreeable job.
Editing for info. The strike on Saturday is the drivers (ASLEF) and we’re RMT. Two separate unions.
