They keep giving me more work and responsibilities without a raise or a promotion

So for context, I work for a multinational finance company and I’ve been here for 3 years and this is my first job post graduation. I’ve managed quite a few different roles and major projects here since I started and even moved teams. I am a quick learner and I can work well under pressure. Last year I got a team lead role, and I took up the challenge and have been managing a big team successfully. And I was content with the role and the pay. This year, the department has a strict budget and people are rarely being given any raise or role changes, they have laid off some people and also stopped hiring externally (to a large extent) 2 months back, one of the senior managers suddenly resigned ( he had 10+ years of exp), and surprisingly they offered me that role. Last year I got a team lead role, and I took up the challenge and have been managing a big team successfully. And I was content with the role and the pay.

This year, the department has a strict budget and people are rarely being given any raise or role changes, they have laid off some people and also stopped hiring externally (to a large extent)

2 months back, one of the senior managers suddenly resigned ( he had 10+ years of exp), and surprisingly they offered me that role. I do like a challenge and I accepted it because I believed it’s a great opportunity to grow in my career. I’ve assumed the responsibility, managing it well so far but they haven’t given me any raise or an official promotion and it’s a very senior position with 3 times more responsibility than my previous one. I asked my boss about it and he said he will talk to the higher ups and get back to me but it could take 3 months to get all the approvals. Additionally, we are understaffed right now and my entire team is working at full capacity. I’m upset with all this and I’m looking for a new job but haven’t found one yet

And yesterday, my boss tells me that we need to take up additional scope of work which would require us to stretch up to 12 hours each day (our WD is 8hrs). I shot back that we aren’t going to take additional responsibility for the company’s lack of resource planning. He said they will hire more people (in3-4 months) but until then we should manage it.

What should I do?
