They tried to gaslight me into quitting

I got a summer job as a cashier when I had just turned 18. The manager initially seemed really nice but started showing her true colors shortly after. I was not allowed to have my phone on me, sit down nor talk to my coworkers. They did not give me anything to do while there were no customers. So I would stand at the register, waiting for time to crawl by. All while I could hear my manager cackling with her work bestie all the way from the other side of the store. At one point my manager asked me if I wanted to quit, because the store had not been as busy as anticipated this summer and they didn't need me. I refused.

I refused. I needed the money and would not be able to find another job in the middle of summer break. I signed a fulltime contract which ended mid september and I was going to stick to the contract.

All of a sudden I kept making mathematical mistakes. My register was always a few euros/cents short each day. Sometimes just 40 cents, sometimes 10 euros. My manager and sometimes her work bestie would do the counting. They always told me I was short on money but never showed me the receipts of the money counting machine. I was starting to feel insecure and like I was insanely dumb. I went home and would burst into tears every single day. I was so careful when working the register, but for some reason I was too stupid to have a day without making any mistakes. My self-esteem was messed up and at this point I wanted to quit.

My manager and her bestie went on a week break, so someone else was responsible for counting the money. I did not mess up once that entire week. That's when I knew my manager and her friend were lying. They tried to make me feel so stupid and insecure, I would eventually want to quit. They almost succeeded too. F you, Ellen and the blonde hag with the Karen haircut.
