Currently 22(M) i am a maintenance Welder at steel refinery in Texas. I currently make 35hr with aleast 45 hours a week guaranteed Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:30pm (pay range between 86k-100k depending on OT . I pick up a few hours every couple weeks when something breaks and i get called it.
The job itself is not bad but i really am getting tired of sweating my butt off like a dog everyday in the Texas heat. Going home exhausted and back hurting sometimes, i can imagine in 20 years how that will feel , I’ve been looking at other options for white collar work coding comes to mind i live below my means and would take a pay cut to sit in the AC at a desk at this point
Have any of you guys made the switch from blue to white Collar ?
