This is wage theft, right?

Starting in summer 2020, I began a side gig where I tutored/taught mostly to kids located in China, but some stationed in the US. The company provides its tutors with students, a tutoring/class schedule, and an hourly rate. Starting about a year ago, tutors/teachers in the company have been asked to complete unpaid tasks such as attending virtual meetings and completing “training” to use new learning management systems. The company has its tutors sign W-9 forms, which seems like they view us as independent contractors. However, the nature of the work does not seem in line with that classification. I don't know very much about this, so I was hoping some kind souls here might chime in to offer insights.
