This question might sound redundant, but how come there isn’t as many unions here in the US?

Excuse me if these question are elementary… How come there isn't a very strong push for unions here in the US? I mean, corporations make a ton of money, but worker wages don't rise at all. Shouldn't this be such an alarm bell for people that the system really fucking sucks? Or is it just people are complacent with their wages? I mean there's other factors and variables (kids, bills, lifestyles?) that can halt the progress towards mass unionization, but why is there such a lack of unions here in the US? What are the negatives a union can bring? What are the positives? Should every industry have a union? Just curious. P.s – Is there any literature on this kind of topic?
