Behind every successful person there are hundreds, possibly even thousands or millions, of people who supported them. These supports are family, friends, customers, employees, fans, voters, stockholders, tax payers (think corporate welfare), etc., who all contributed to making this one individual's dream come true. Yet even after these people — often men — have gained their money, status, and power, we further bestow upon them the bullshit title of “Self-made man”. We put people like Elon, Bezos, Obama, Trump, Pitt and DiCaprio on little pedestals to be admired and adored for their innate greatness.
What do you think about society hero worshiping people who have attained (or were born into) money, status, and power?
